Vestigia is an ongoing series of large-format paintings in muted, near-monochrome tones. Layer is laid over layer and then taken back. What is left is not an image but a presence — a state, a threshold.

The surface is not a window onto something else. It holds its own imperfection openly, and in doing so it gives itself. Some works hold a horizon. Others hold nothing at all. Together they form a field with no fixed number and no end. What I am looking for in all of them is a feeling of wholeness. An energy.
